WHAT IS GEOGRAPHY? Definition: Study of Spatial Relationships
Definition: Study of Spatial Relationships Who, What, When, Where, Why, How i.e. land use – farming vs residential Involves two aspects of Earth -physical geography (natural elements) - Human geography (people and things that relate to people – ex. cities) Spatial: How things interact. How what we do here has an affect on the rest of the world. Farming: What we grow has an affect on the land, which has an affect on the animals, which has an affect on the surrounding environment.

Understand how world systems work Our effect: increased greenhouse gas emissions, global warming water pollution, mining, etc.) If we understand how the systems work we know how to work with them or fix the problems that arise

Why Should Christians Study Geography?
God’s will for us in geography: STEWARDSHIP We see ourselves as stewards (earth-keepers) given a task by God It is our duty to learn about the world around us and how to take care of it (Gen 1:28)
