2. Where in the world do you find sources?
It is important that you know good places to locate sources.
- InfOhio can be a good place to start for research.
- The Library of Congress is a source which has many primary sources available.
- The National Archives has sources already sorted by categories.
- The National Archives Digital Vault is a neat way to search for primary sources.
- Britannica is an online encyclopedia which can help you find secondary source information.

3. Why are some sources not good to use for research?
NOT EVERYTHING YOU READ ONLINE IS TRUE.
Sometimes sources may have good and true information but they have not been fact-checked. This means that they may contain information that is not true.
Wikipedia.org is an example of this type of source.
A random website you locate after a Google search is also probably not good to use for research.

4. But isn’t 1 source good enough?
Having just one source is never good enough. A good writer always gets his or her information from many different sources.
People write from different viewpoints. If you only read use one source you are only reporting on information from one viewpoint.

5. How do I list my sources?
As you learn more about writing, you will learn a formal way to list or site your sources. We are not quite read for this, so we are going to use the URLs to list our sources.
A URL is the web address for a webpage.

First, you want to highlight the URL for your webpage.
Then, you want to right click and select copy.
Lastly, you want to click in the area you would like to place the link, right click again, and select paste.

If you are getting information from a book, it is important to list the title and author.
As you learn more about listing sources, you will have to be able to locate the:
Copyright
Publisher
Publishing Location
Editor
Issue or Episode #
