What makes a good plan? What are you looking for when you’re examining the other person’s plan?
Structure: for a logical sequence of points; have you got a clear direction? Does it hit the AOs; does it hit them in the right proportions (AO1: 5 AO2: 15 AO3: 10 AO4: 10) Well-balanced between texts: focus on Birdsong and Chaucer with (secondary text) as a backup AO1: focus on your question – don’t stray and provide irrelevant information Are your ideas developing and building well from the original premise Are the points within the paragraphs linked well? Discourse markers? Organised by similarities and differences AO3: are there (i) alternative interpretations and (ii) critical references Have they clarified the quotations they are going to use for AO2? AO2: have you got elements of form, structure and language analysis? AO4: are they embedded? DON’T BOLT ON A HISTORY ESSAY.
