Get in groups and write down the different things you do to remember information

5. Acronyms: first letter = word
If you are having a hard time remembering a list of information:
you can make a word using the first letter of each word you need to memorize to help you remember them.
Ex. How would you remember the great lakes? (Geography)
Superior, Huron, Eerie, Ontario, Michigan

6. Acrostics: phrase
first letter of each word or line functions as a clue to help you recall the words that you are trying to remember
Ex: How could you remember the order of operations in (Math)?
Exponents, parenthesis, division, addition, subtraction, multiplication

7. Story telling: Make up a story
Making up a story using the information can help you to remember information better.
Hint: this works particularly well for History.
Ex. How can you remember the four parts of speech (English)?
Nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs, capitals and periods?

8. Rhymes/songs
Make a rhyme or song of the concept you’re learning to help you remember it
Ex. We do this to help in spelling! How do we remember that I comes before E in spelling?
How do we remember the alphabet? Try saying it without the tune.

9. Graphic organizers
To better understand a topic, you can draw out the detail and link them together in a graphic organizer.
Venn diagram (compare/contrast)
Web (main topic and details)
Cause and effect design (causes, event, effects)

13. Visualization
Visualizing is when you see an image in your head without actually looking at it.
This can help the diagrams on the paper seem more real and concrete.
Ex. Visualize the water cycle and describe what is happening to me.

14. Flash cards (A.K.A cue cards)
Flash cards help you to study by allowing you to review your material and quickly quiz yourself on the main concepts.
They’re great because:
They are compact and easy to carry
They are great for testing your knowledge
They keep all your study topics organized and easy to access

15. Flash cards How To:
Take a study guide (or list of important topics) and write each title or topic on the blank side of the cue card.
Ex: Topic of Pythagorean Theory
On the lined signed write in point for the relevant information relating to the topic
Ex:
