1
Energy in the Cell
2
Energy Where does energy come from? Who converts this energy?
3
Energy Currency Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)
4
Energy Currency ATP- Adenosine Triphosphate ADP- Adenosine Diphosphate
Energy stored ADP- Adenosine Diphosphate Energy released
6
PHOTOSYNTHESIS What do you need?
The sun Carbon dioxide from the air A plant Water from the soil
7
PHOTOSYNTHESIS What does it make?
Oxygen (waste) Food for plant (sugar)
8
Photosynthesis- "putting together with light”
Light Dependent Reactions Light Energy is absorbed from the sun & converted to chemical energy (ATP) Calvin Cycle Using CO2 and chemical energy, organic molecules are formed
9
Light Reactions chloroplast absorbs light splitting the water
oxygen is released out the stomata hydrogen moves over to the Calvin cycle
10
Calvin Cycle Hydrogen bonds with CO2 forming organic molecules
11
Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis Diagram
Create a diagram (drawings & color) with steps that explain the process of photosynthesis. The following words must be used. Sun Autotroph Light reactions Chloroplast Calvin cycle H2O CO2 Stomata Glucose
