Remember that you MUST incorporate CONTEXT into APUSH DBQs. This can be included anywhere in your essay, however, it is a good place to begin.
About 3 sentences that state “WHERE WE ARE”
Think about period and location
Next, be sure that your THESIS STATEMENT addresses all aspects of the question. It cannot be a restatement of the question. It must tell me the key points of your argument

3. How Should My BODY Paragraphs be organized?
Your essay should have several body paragraphs
Each one should address a part of your thesis
You should have a paragraph that deals with SYNTHESIS
Think about “WHERE WE ARE GOING?”
Think about a counter-argument
Think about the “gray area” (a qualification)

You must move beyond summarizing your argument; this is you may want to plan on including your SYNTHESIS in this paragraph.

Argumentation: This must be throughout your essay. Did you prove your thesis? Did you use your evidence to back up what you claimed in your introduction paragraph?

You must connect historical context, audience, purpose, or point of view (THINK “SOAP/P”) for at least four of the six documents you are using to prove your point
Of Outside Information: This must be throughout your essay. You must state a piece of your argument, back it up with evidence, and then connect the two. THIS IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS DOCUMENT ANALYSIS AND MUST CONNECT BACK TO YOUR ARGUMENT.
