Enter the classroom QUIETLY and take your seat. Turn off your phone and place it in your backpack – NOT your lap or your pocket! Remove everything from your desk. If you need a pen or pencil, the time to ask is BEFORE the quiz starts Once the quiz starts, you will have 10 minutes to take the quiz. Keep your eyes on your own paper!!!! Do your best and don’t stress!!!  Once you are done, please sit quietly until the Quiz is over. I will collect the quizzes at that time.

England is ruled by Kings who rule by “Force and Will” – that is do what the king wants or he will take everything you have 1215 King John of England unpopular (and really mean!) Heavily taxed the nobles to fight a wars in France (He lost!) Nobles rebel and forced the king to sign the Magna Carta to stay in power

5 What does the Magna Carta Say?
created the idea of limiting the Kings Power and created the idea of individual rights Main Points: Limited Government – barons could meet and overrule the King The Rule of Law – the King wasn’t above the law – he had to follow the law Individual Rights – due process of law, Proof of Crime, own property, protected from unfair taxes Shared Power – allowed people to be given rights besides all the power (rights) going to the King

SOVEREIGNTY – highest power – someone is the sovereign when they are king ENTITIES – an individual, person SCUTAGE – when a Lord pays his Baron money, so he doesn’t have to serve in the Army If there are any other words you’re not sure of, please ask!
