Respond, Adapt & Evolve with their Environment
Maintain Homeostasis (Internal Stability)

4. (3) Why aren’t viruses cells?
They can’t do this on their own:
Reproduce
Metabolize Nutrients / Excrete Waste
Grow / Develop
Maintain Homeostasis
They require a host to complete these processes.

Unicellular Organisms: Organisms made of only a single cell.
Multicellular Organisms: Organisms made of trillions of specialized cells.

18. (5) Pro- vs. Eu- Prokaryotic Cells: Cells without a nucleus.
Pro = before ; -Karyo = nucleus
Cells that evolved before a nucleus
Eukaryotic Cells: Cells with a nucleus and multiple organelles.
Eu = true ; -Karyo = nucleus
Cells with a true nucleus
