8 Battle of Baltimore/Ft. McHenry (1814)
After DC, British marched on Baltimore, MD and attacked Fort McHenry hoping to cripple American defenses/morale This battle inspired Francis Scott Key to write the poem “The Defense of Fort McHenry”… later known as “The Star Spangled Banner.”

9 3) Treaty of Ghent official ending to the War of 1812 The agreement did very little except to say that things would return to the way they were before the war (nothing was really accomplished with the war) Some felt that the War of 1812 was a mistake, yet others argued that it restored pride in the United States. (moral victory)

10 4) Battle of New Orleans The Battle took place on January 8, 1815, 2 weeks after the War of 1812 had officially ended. Despite pointlessness of the battle, Andrew Jackson was an overnight hero for his leadership and victory at New Orleans
