By 1991 the USSR officially ends, we tear down the Berlin Wall, and all the Eastern European countries declare independence (Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria etc)
The USSR collapses because they could not keep up with our military spending
For 50 years ( ) US Foreign policy was shaped by “Russia evil and USA good”
Now things get way more complicated… (Yugoslavia collapses, Somalian Civil War = Black Hawk Down… crazy)

In 1991 Iraq President Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, breaking international law for very complicated reasons (Debt forgiveness… oil production quotas..)
Bush leads coalition of 34 other countries into Iraq, defeating Saddam in 3 days
9,500 Iraqi’s killed
Only 300 Coalition soldiers killed
Notable because of there was no “Vietnam Syndrome” = getting caught in a war for 10+ years
This will not be the same when Bush Jr fights in Iraq 20 years later...
