Solar Energy Sam Cho First Slide
2
Simply, it is... Brief Knowledge about solar energy contracting the sunlight into usable electricity power by using photovoltaics or indirectly using the concentrated power into energy by applying the reflection of light.
4
Short History of Solar Energy
In William Grylls Adams discovered selenium In Calvin Fuller, Gerald Pearson, and Daryl Chapin created silicon solar cell Brief History of Solar Energy
5
How it Works 1) Photovoltaic cell
--> conducts sunlight's radiation into the silicon photo-electric cell and transfers the stored radiation to electricity 2) Concentrating Sunlight --> focuses the sunlight directly into a conducting wire w/ lenses The detailed steps of solar energy is produced

Advantage VS Disadvantage
NO GREENHOUSE GASES EMITTED LIMITED WITH TIME VERY EFFECTIVE IF UTILIZED WELL EXPENSIVE COST STORE GREAT AMOUNT OF ELECTRICITY POSSIBLE POLLUTION BY CADMIUM LOCATIONS ARE ABUNDANT LACK OF SOURCE
11
Conclusion SOLAR ENERGY...
1. uses photovoltaic cells to capture sunlight radiation or uses lenses to focus light rays into one spot 2. is useful in many ways because of its ability for storing electricity and it doesn't produce greenhouse gases 3. may pollute ecosystem because of cadmium and its practicality is questionable
