Discovery of Penicillin
For the actual discovery of penicillin, what role did the traditional scientific method play? What other factors allowed the discovery to be made? Louis Pasteur wrote, "In the field of observation, chance favors only the prepared mind.“ How does that relate to the discovery of penicillin?

Scientific Methods techniques used in science to discover new knowledge, create new inventions, etc. there are many different ways- and many of them are not structured procedures Scientists must be great observers and very creative but also be prepared to make connections between what they know and what they see

Making Observations 2 types of info:
Quantitative-numerical (mass, density, volume, pH, etc.) Qualitative- descriptive (color, odor, comparisons, etc.) System- what you are studying

Observing and collecting data Formulating a hypothesis Testing the hypothesis Theorizing
