SI unit for temperature.

7. Hypothesis
An “educated” or your “best guess” to the outcome of an experiment.

Data or observations that usually use the five senses to observe such as color, feelings, touch, appearance, etc.

Unit commonly used by scientists for temperature.

10. Independent Variable
The single isolated factor you are testing in an experiment. (hint: “I” change it)

Anything that must be kept the same in an experiment for the test to be valid or fair.

Data or observations that can be expressed as an amount or number.

14. Control group
The part of the experiment that is used for comparison. Does not contain the independent variable.

A hypothesis that has a lot of support to back it up and is yet to be disproved.

Explains how something occurs in nature and seems to always be correct.

17. Liter
SI unit used for measuring liquid volume.

18. Gram
Unit used in lab to measure mass.

19. Experimental Group
Part of the experiment that contains the independent variable. The “test” group.

Unit that means one thousandth (1/1000) of a meter, liter or gram.

Two word naming system that includes genus and species names.

Organisms that are alike and can interbreed to produce fertile offspring.

The broadest category of the modern classification system.

The theory that living things come only from other living things

Tool used to identify and find scientific names of organisms.

Smallest unit of life.

Term for any living thing

Maintaining constant conditions in a living thing.

The history of an organism that tells how it has changed over time.

The theory that living things come from non-living things.

32. Taxonomy
Science of classifying and naming organisms.
