2 What is an Argumentative Essay?
A composition that making a claim Using logic to argue claim In addition, counter claims are acknowledged and disputed.

Argumentative essay presents facts to back up the argument. NO OPINIONS! Persuasive essay may also present facts, but opinions are acceptable

Define counter claim. A claim/statement to off-set another claim/statement made by the opposing side Why is it important to present counter claims in your paper? Credibility Chance to disprove other opinions/ideas

How many counter claims should you present? Minimum of two After presenting each counter claim, what should you do? Dispute the counter claim with facts How do you end this paragraph? With a tie up sentence

12 Transition Sentence What is a transition sentence?
A sentence that links the paragraph topics to the next paragraph What are at least three examples of transition words? Also, additionally, finally, in conclusion, another idea, however ,furthermore, for example DO NOT USE: first, second, third….

13 Conclusion: What are the three parts to a conclusion?
Minimum of 5 sentences The first sentence is the restated thesis Tie up your essay thought provoking fact or statement DO NOT introduce new ideas.
