1 Physics – Feb 5th SLOT Day 2 Summaries from yesterday
Wave Interference Story of a Wave

2 Wave Interference Read pages

3 Wave Interference What is interference?
How are constructive and destructive interference different? What does it mean for waves to be in phase with each other? Out of phase? Can all waves (transverse and longitudinal) experience interference? How do you know?

4 Story of a Wave Work in Pairs Must inculde:
Amplitude, wavelength, frequency (or period) Velocity (show calculation) Interference – type and new amplitude when interference occurs

5 Story of a Wave Once upon a time, there was a stone dropped into a pond. This stone created a wave with an amplitude of 1 cm, wavelength of 2 cm, and a frequency of 3 Hz. The wave was happily traveling along the pond at 5 cm/s when it came upon another wave traveling toward it. This wave was similar to the first wave, except they were not in phase with each other. When they met, their crests and troughs did not line up and their amplitudes cancelled out and became 0 cm. Once they passed through each other, they both travelled merrily towards opposite ends of the pond.
