President can propose legislation in his annual State of the Union Address
Can appeal directly to the people
Can either approve or veto legislation
Appoints officials who carry out the law

7. Party Leader
President is automatically the leader of his political party
He has no special powers, but does try to help his party by appointing party members to positions and helping members running for office

8. Judicial Leader
President appoints judges to the Supreme Court and other federal courts
President may grant a pardon, a reprieve, or amnesty

9. Chief of State
As Chief of State, the President represents all 50 states and is a symbol of the U.S. government
