OPTION 1: Historical report
Research the evacuation of children from London during WW2 using “Goodnight Mister Tom” and the internet Using your newfound information, write a historical Feature Report on the events surrounding the evacuation Your report should be between words long and include appropriate pictures (one A4 page) Your report should include the following subheadings for your paragraphs – you may add more if you think of them: What were the reasons that the evacuation had to take place? Who were the people involved in the operation? How did the process of evacuation work? Imagine yourselves in the children's’ situation. Was the evacuation a good idea? Why? Why not?

OPTION 2: Memoir Write a memoir (recount) by Will about his initial move to Little Weirwold from London Assume the events of the novel have already taken place and you are writing from memory Write in first person (“I”) Include Will’s opinions and thoughts on the following: World War 2 The differences between the city and the country What it was like being evacuated What daily life in London was like The memoir is to be handwritten and made to look authentic (one A4 page). Be sure to include a date for your ‘memoir’. It is to be between words

OPTION 3: newsflash: The Blitz
Research “The Blitz” using “Goodnight Mister Tom” and the internet Using your newfound information, write a front page News Article on the Blitz, from the point of view of a journalist who is living through it (you are writing at some point during the Blitz) Your article should be between words long and include appropriate pictures and a headline about “The Blitz” (one A4 page) Your article should include the date it was written, the name of the newspaper it was published in and a cost for the newspaper, at the top of the page Your article should include the following subheadings for your paragraphs – you may add more if you think of them: Why is England at war? A description of the Blitz What are some of the events leading up to the bombings? Who are some of the key historical figures involved? How does this affect the average Londoner? Do you think war is right in some situations? Why? Why not?
