3 THE little book Made from a single sheet of paper
No need for staples, glue, sticky tape Can be quickly and easily created by anyone Can be adapted into pop-up book Can be created on the computer in Word Can be photocopied (one side of paper) Sometimes called “hotdog book”, “origami book” “Poof! book” ...

4 The little book has front and back cover, and six pages
The little book has front and back cover, and six pages. It can be made with A3 paper, or A4 paper.

5 You need: pens/pencils scissors A4 or A3 paper

6 Step 1: Fold the paper in half

7 Step 2: Fold the paper in half again

8 Step 3: Fold the paper in half a third time

9 Step 4: Unfold as far as the first fold Cut down to the fold mark from the fold edge

10 Unfold, and re-fold the other way
Step 5: Fold Cut section Unfold, and re-fold the other way

11 Hold the two ends ... ... and push them together.

12 And there it is!

13 Now ... write, draw

14 This is when YOU make a “little book”!
And THEN we will learn how to make a POP-UP little book!

15 Preparing for Pop-Up Books
Start simple: Making a Pop-Up Card

16 You need: pens/pencils scissors A4 or A3 paper

17 Step 1: Fold the paper in half

18 Step 2: Fold the paper in half again

19 Open the paper, and re-fold the other way.
Inside of Card

20 For a beak or mouth: cut fold

21 Re-fold card. Put finger inside card to push out pop-up section.

28 Folding for pop-ups: Unfold paper completely
Fold edges in to the middle

29 Little cuts for pop-ups:
Book Cover (no cuts) Box Nose Mouth or beak (duck) Mouth

30 Face – nose and mouth pop-ups

31 A character quickly develops

32 Duck Beak or Animal Mouth

33 Any animal will do

34 Box or Furniture or Item

35 Something cube-shaped

36 It’s time for you to try a POP-UP book.
And THEN we will look briefly at making a “little book” on the COMPUTER.

37 Making a little book on the computer:
Open a Word document Set margins to narrow

38 Insert a table: 2 X 4

39 Drag down, and distribute the rows
Select all cells

40 Draw a text box in each cell

41 Change the text direction in each box

42 The book format:

43 Insert Book Material

44 Remove Table Grid Lines
Select all cells

45 Remove Text Box Lines

46 Print copies or photocopy
