2. The preterite tense is one of the two PAST tenses in Spanish.

There are 2 simple steps to conjugating verbs in the preterite: 1. 2.
Drop the -AR
Add the appropriate ending

3. Here are the endings for regular –AR verbs in the preterite:

5. -AR preterite BOOT VERBS do not change!!

6. Verbs that end with –CAR, -GAR, -ZAR will change in the YO form
