Verb Agreement Is something you need in your writing and speech.
Is something that is tested on the SAT, MAP and ACT Is making sure your verbs are in the same tense throughout a sentence, a paragraph and an essay.

Disclaimer That is not to say that you HAVE to stay in the same tense for an entire essay or story - but you do need to be aware of where you are changing the verb tense. Usually you do this at paragraph breaks and for a very specific purpose - like when you change topic or need to talk about a different aspect of your topic.

Verb Review: A verb is a word that is used to express action or a state of being Run, jump, swim, need, want, love, eat, drink, fly, exist, have, hold, etc.

Verb Phrase A verb phrase consists of at least one MAIN VERB and one or more HELPING VERBS. A HELPING VERB helps the main verb express action or a state of being. Example: is leaving had seemed might have remained

Sometimes the parts of a verb phrase can be interrupted by other words. Example: She had always been thinking of her future. Has my sister played her new CD for you? The word NOT is an adverb and is never part of a verb phrase. Example: She should not have borrowed that necklace. She shouldn’t have borrowed that necklace.
