I’m American, and I’m from the beautiful city of Seattle. Thank you very much for coming to my presentation. Tips: Provide Japanese lyrics (in some situations) Teach a culture point Christmas songs Moana – How Far I’ll Go – Feminism Bring instruments to class! If you sing at the beginning of the class: Singing builds student energy If you sing at the end of the class: Class ends on an energetic note Students have something to look forward to You can cancel the singing Method One: Sing! Choosing Songs: Use popular songs! Poll students’ favorite artists and songs My classes like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and One Direction Match the song and activity purpose Consider: Song length and speed Genre (upbeat?) Method Two: Play Music Before Class
Goals: Build energy before class starts! Connect with your students and start conversations! Switch students into ‘English mode’ Recommended Levels: ES, JHS, SHS
