2. MINI LESSON:
VOLUME is a measure
It is the number of cubes that fit into a 3-dimensional figure.
Cubes can be different sizes:
cubic inch = 1 in x 1 in x 1 in
cubic centimeter = 1 cm x 1 cm x 1cm
cubic foot = 1 ft x 1 ft x 1 ft
and so forth…

3. Find the volume of this rectangular prism
Let’s say we had a large glass prism and lots of 1 cubic foot cubes…

We could place 4 rows of 5 cubes each across the bottom of the prism. That makes a layer of 20 cubes, or 20 cubic feet

How many layers of cubes can fit? There are 3 layers tha can fit
How many cubic feet are inside the prism?
3 layers of 20 cubic feet each
= 3 x 20
= 60 cubic feet
