1 Welcome to Math 1! Can you guess what team I cheer for and where I
went to college?? This is a picture of my family, you will probably hear my daughter “talking” to you at some point  I love sports, especially football! I also love being out on the water, we have jet skis that we like to ride. Do you have a favorite sport or hobby?

2 Where are you from? I live in Gainesville… also known as
Gator Country! How far away from me do you live?

3 Student Expectations Love your grades! Daily/Weekly Duties:
STUDENTS SHOULD BE SUBMITTING WORK CONSISTENTLY, this is a MINIMUM of 3 – 4 lessons per week. Please refer to your pace chart for specific information. Students must review s frequently. (There are two accounts to check!) Instructors communicate important messages this way. It is also very important to review your gradebook regularly. If there are any grades that you are not content with, you may resubmit them for a better score. Monthly Calls: * 30 days or less * Parent and student * Check student dashboard for call date Oral Exam: * Completed when it appears in course * Parent ensures academic integrity

4 Grace Period First 28 days from activation – trial period
You are required to submit work, every week, following the pace chart. You should be on pace and passing the course by the end of the grace period in order to remain in the class. No penalty/No grade – You may withdraw from course during the grace period if you feel the course is not right for you. If you withdraw after your grace period has ended, you will receive the grade of an “F”, no matter what your current grade is in the course.

5 Traditional Pace Chart
This is just the MINIMUM pace chart. You absolutely may work ahead of this pace!! 7 How do I Find Everything?
Look on the left hand side of the screen for a column of BLUE TABS. LESSONS is where you will see your modules (chapters) with drop down menus. Please make sure you are reading the lesson before submitting work. In the COURSE INFORMATION tab you can find, pace chart, contact-drop policy, student resources, and more. Remember, this is your user guide to the course. ASSESSMENTS is where your assignments will be completed and turned in. GRADEBOOK is where you can access previous work and resubmit assignments if necessary is where you will receive all your feedback from your assignments. Make sure to LOGOFF, when leaving, in order to avoid “cookie” problems.

8 Click on the “Lessons” button to get to the index.
How do I Find my Lessons? Click on the “Lessons” button to get to the index. The “Assessments” button is where you go to take the lesson quiz… AFTER you have gone through the lesson completely. Click on the down arrow to make your selection.

9 How do I navigate within each lesson?
Take the Pre-Test for each module. The Pre-Test is so that you and I will know what you already know before you go through the material in the module. If it is alright with your parent, you can be exempt from the lessons that you have shown mastery on in the Pre-Test. Read the lesson and take thorough notes. Remember you can use your notes on ANYTHING in this course, so they are a great resource…especially for the Segment Exam. Do the Try It & Activity problems. These problems are like your classwork and homework in the course. Please feel free to work them out in your notebook. AFTER completing everything in the lesson, you are to go into the “Assessment” tab and take the quiz for that lesson. Don’t forget to submit it to me for grading. *** It should take about an hour and a half to completely go through a lesson properly, this is steps 2 – 4. Please make sure you are spending the appropriate time learning the material.

10 How do I turn in assignment that requires an attached file?
Step 1: After reading the lesson, click on the ASSESSMENTS tab. Step 2: Select the lesson that you want to turn in. Step 3: Complete your work by typing directly into the “Student Comment” box or by attaching a file. If you attach a file, do not use a ( . ) period in the file name. Step 4: When you are ready to submit, make sure that you check the “Submit for Grading” box, and then the click “Submit” button. Upload file here

11 Discussion Based Assessments
DBA’s are an oral assessment that you and I will do over the phone, it is just you and I talking about what you have learned in the module. There is a DBA for every module and you have to successfully complete the DBA in order to receive the password needed to take the module test. You can refer to the module review as a study guide. Please make sure that you are not skipping around in the course. Everything is to be done in the order that it is presented on your assessments list.

12 Gradebook This is what your gradebook looks like:
Here is an example of a graded assignment: Feedback Submissions Allowed Grade Submissions Allowed

To complete STEP 2 you and a parent can either set up an appointment through the link on my announcement page or call me when it is a good time for both of you.
