2. System
A type of computer program that is designed to run a computer’s hardware and application programs.
Examples of system software are:
Operating system
BIOS (basic input/output system)

3. Operating System
The program that manages all other applications on the computer.
Determines which applications should be running, and in which order
How much time should be allowed for each application before giving another a turn
Manages the sharing of internal memory among multiple applications
Manages input/output between attached hardware devices (ex: printer)
Sends messages to application or user about any errors that may have occurred

4. Basic Input Output System (BIOS)
BIOs instructs the computer on how to perform basic functions
It identifies hard drives, memory & other inputs then tells the computer what to do with them
Within BIOS you can change settings for how the computer will view and enable things
Ex: Booting computer & controls keyboard functions
Change CD/DVD drives settings
you can enable/disable audio & memory settings

5. Client/Application Software:
Client is a computer program that depends on sending requests to other computer programs that can either be on that computer or a different computer.
Basically client software is responsible for retrieving what you are looking for on a computer.
For example, web browsers are clients that connect people to web pages instantly.
Application is designed to perform a group of functions or tasks to help benefit the needs of the user.
Examples of applications are a spreadsheet, media player, or word processor etc.

6. Utility Software
A software that is intended to analyze, configure, monitor, or help maintain a computer.
Examples of utility software:
Antivirus
File Manager
Backup Software
Debuggers
Screensavers
