8 Put it all together! Directions: Use your data from your investigations on the front side of this paper to help you make decisions about your answers to the following questions. What do you notice is true about the problems that have positive products? What do you notice is true about the problems that have negative products? I noticed that all positive products had integers with same signs. I noticed that all negative products had integers with different signs (a mixture of signs).

How can you tell if the answer to a multiplication problem is going to be positive or negative just by looking at it? Write a general rule for multiplying integers. When the integers have the same sign the product is positive. When the integers have different signs the product is negative. Signs match (same signs) = positive product Different signs = negative product
