2. What is a plant?!
A living thing that grows on land or in water and cannot move from place to place.

3. Air Water Sunlight What do they need?
Plants also need nutrients. Nutrients can be found in soil. It is a substance needed to grow and survive.

4. Plants have special parts that work together to help it survive.

Plants have special parts that work together to help it survive.
The smallest part is a cell. It is the most basic unit of life. You have them too!!

5. Roots
Underground
Takes in water and Nutrients
Holds plants in place

6. Sometimes roots store food. Sometimes we eat this food!

7. Stems Carries up water and nutrients. Holds up leaves
Some store food. Can you guess which one we eat?

9. Leaves Comes out of stem. Makes food. Air + Sun = Sugar
Can be different shapes

10. Put it all together!
Roots take in water and nutrients. The stem carries these to all parts of the plant. The leaves make food using sunlight and air!

11. What takes in sunlight to make food?

12. Leaves!

13. What absorbs nutrients from the soil?

14. Roots!

15. What carries water to plant parts?

16. Stems!
