2 Welcome and Reminders (1/7/18)
Be sure you are in the right room during the right block. Honors World Lit – Room 2224 – Dr. Spruill See the roster to the right of this screen – find your name and your seat number. Seats are numbered on a sticky note. Please place your transcript and schedule review sheet on your desk. Reminders Pre-Course Reading COMPLETED BY MONDAY, 1/28: You will need your pre-course reading book (In class) as well as your completed work. You will use this work to complete a larger assignment for the unit. You should have the book finished – that is a given. If you are new to Hillgrove, it is your responsibility to view the PRE-COURSE reading assignment posted on the school website and speak to me with any questions you might have. You can finish it by 1/28 as well as the assignment.

3 CIRCLE OF FRIENDS On one side of the card, write your name in the center of the card On the other side of the card, write: Top left hand corner--- most memorable part of your summer Top right hand corner—favorite movie/TV show Bottom left– One thing that you wish you could change about last semester Bottom right– This semester I hope…

4 CIRCLE OF FRIENDS Find someone who you do not know
Share the items on your card with the other person. Be sure to know the person’s name and one other thing about him/her.

5 CIRCLE OF FRIENDS You and your partner should now find another two people Introduce your partner from round 1 to the new “friends” in your circle. Share one other thing on your card with the new people in your circle of friends.

13 At each station, do the following:
Introduce yourself to your teammates. Discuss your answer with your teammates. Ask each other questions about why those answers were chosen. When finished, post all of your sticky notes on the chart paper with the sentence starter. **You’ll have two minutes before moving to the next station.

WHAT MESS OF STICKY NOTES!! Organize the notes into similar themes or ideas. FOR EXAMPLE: If eight people said reading is a strength in English class, group those answers together. If 5 people said vocabulary is a strength in English class, group those answers together. And so on…

What is your story? In the last 24 hours, think about 3 people you came in contact with in passing. How might their culture or identity differed from yours? What challenges are presented by interacting with people whose identities differ from yours? How can we begin to relate and/or connect to others with stories different than our own? May have to copy and paste link to video clip into the browser.
