Graphing Functions x f(x) = 2x + 7 2 2(2) + 7 = 11 3 2(3) + 7 = 13 4
2(4) + 7 = 15 5 2(5) + 7 = 17
2
T - Tables The most basic method
Make a T-Table, using values of x of your choosing (since you can choose, pick easy values to calculate) Plot the points Connect the dots x f(x) = 2x + 7 2 2(2) + 7 = 11 3 2(3) + 7 = 13 4 2(4) + 7 = 15 5 2(5) + 7 = 17

Using Function Properties Often the fastest method
Slope Intercept Form: y = mx + b Start at the y intercept, (0, b) Remember slope is rise / run Write the slope as a fraction From the y – intercept count up the rise, then over the run Given a slope and a point: - Do the same as above, but start at the given point. Graph y = 2x + 1 Start at (0,1) Slope is 2/1 Count up 2 right 1

Using Function Properties Often the fastest method
Standard Form: Ax + By = C Find, x-intercept and y-intercept. 2. Plot those two points 3. Draw a line through them. Graph 2x + 3y = 6 x-intercept: 2x = 6, x = 3, So, (3,0) y-intercept: 3y = 6, y = 2, So, (0,2)
