Daily Warm-up Thursday October 3rd
For each image, identify if the SOLUTION is hypertonic, hypotonic, or isotonic Homework -Read 7.4 and STUDY!
2
Example Question Charlie the unicorn is taken by Lord Voldemort and placed into the lake near Hogwarts. If Charlie's cells consist of 5% solute, while the surrounding lake water consists of 2% solute, what will happen to Charlie's cells?
3
Today -Finish up observations -Write conclusion Discussion
4
Now examine the slide under the microscope. Write your observations.
-Take the slide and add a drop of salt water on it. Allow it to sit for 3 minutes. While you wait, make a hypothesis about what you think will happen. Ex. If salt water is placed on the plant, then the plant cells will swell up. Now examine the slide under the microscope. Write your observations. Conclusion: (Complete sentences here!) Did your observations support or reject your hypothesis? Why or why not? If it surprised you, why do you think it happened? (think biologically or error-wise). What could be future experiments?
5
Homeostasis -Maintaining relatively internal physical and chemical conditions -Issue for all cells: prokaryotes and eukaryotes alike!
6
How do the cells of multicellular organisms work together to maintain homeostasis?
7
