Today’s Objectives You will work with two partners to create a presentation on revising and editing strategies by analyzing a mock STAAR question and explaining incorrect and correct answers You will be introduced to the persuasive essay rubric and process of analyzing a prompt in order to begin to formulate a coherent persuasive essay

Due next class period You will ADD them to the flashcards you made last time for a total of 21 words, so make sure to bring all 21 next period!

Grouping Protocols For this assignment there are three roles:
Team Leader (keeps everyone on task, facilitates discussion, & asks the teacher questions when necessary) Scribe (writes and/or types assignment & ensures submission) Fact Checker (uses dictionary, thesaurus, & any necessary text to correct grammar, spelling, and quotations)

With a group of three you will create a short presentation on which answers are wrong and WHY which is correct and WHY You have 20 minutes to submit This is a TEST grade (20%) so I cannot help you, but you may use anything else that will! ***Example to follow***

Incorrect Answers A is wrong because the phrase beginning “Consisting” modifies “Elie Wiesel” B is wrong because the semicolon is wrongly used creating a sentence error C is wrong because it misplaces the phrase beginning “consisting” so that it modifies “Europe”

Correct Answer D is the correct answer because it maintains the same meaning conveyed by both sentences

With a random group, you will be assigned a portion of the rubric to teach the class Look at the section of the rubric you were assigned and list the differences between the scores on the chart paper You have 10 minutes until you present your findings to the class in a gallery walk Hint: highlight words that change
