Synthetic Division In order to divide polynomials using synthetic division, you must be dividing by a linear expression and the leading coefficient (first number) must be a 1. If the leading coefficient is not a 1, then you must divide by the leading coefficient to turn the leading coefficient into a 1. If synthetic division will not work, then you must use long division. LYRICS Hello, what’s up? Don’t math equations get buck
But not buck enough cause we’re tough Now let’s learn about this synthetic division stuff Synthetic division is a shortcut of a polynomial division Just like when the weather change when it gets around Christmas It is used for finding zeros of polynomials You can factor around, throw it down, then make It touch the floor In order to divide polynomials using synthetic division You must be dividing by a linear expression and the leading coefficient must be a 1 There are 6 steps when using synthetic division Just like the 6 hours you wait for Christmas Step 1: in step 1 when setting up the problem Set the denominator equal to 0 Find the number to put in the division box Then there you go, you’re a synthetic division hero Next, make sure the numerator is written in descending order If any terms are missing you must put a 0 to fill the missing term List only the coefficient in the division problem and do this type of work for anybody you can earn some dollars CONTINUED….

In step 2, once the problem is set up correctly
Bring the leading coefficient straight down Just like when Ms. Buist gives us all these tests It makes me frown, frown, frown In step 3, multiply the number in the division box with the number you brought down Then put the result in the next column, and do it without a single sound In step 4, add the 2 numbers together Now write the result in the bottom of the row Get a friend and help each other And when it gets too difficult go ahead and take a bow In step 5, you will just repeat steps 3 and 4 Until you reach the end of the problem Come on one more step don’t give up now In step 6, write the final answer The answer is made up of the numbers in the bottom row with the last number being the remainder Now let me show you an example…..

The Rational Root Theorem / Using the Rational Root Theorem
P/Q= the factors of the constant/ factors of leading coefficient Procedure: 1. Find one root using synthetic division 2. Continue finding roots and dividing until you have a quadratic 3. Using any method to solve the quadratic To understand more, watch the following YouTube video

Polynomial Long Division
polynomial long division is an algorithm for dividing a polynomial by another polynomial of the same or lower degree, a generalized version of the familiar arithmetic technique called long division. ( ) To learn how to divide polynomials, click the link below 414d-9898-be9ae56807c9

Factoring Polynomials Completely
The first method for factoring polynomials will be factoring out the greatest common factor. To use this method all that we do is look at all the terms and determine if there is a factor that is in common to all the terms. If there is, we will factor it out of the polynomial.
