Types: Descriptive scene Interesting statistic or fact Engaging question Quotation Anectode Basic Explanation Describe your topic as if your reader has NO knowledge No facts requiring citations here

Introduction Thesis Statement
Last sentence of your introduction Previews what your reader will learn by the end of your paper. Should include: Topic addressed explicitly Your overall conclusion The main points you will make throughout Ex. The now extinct Western Black Rhino could have been saved if there had been interventions put into place to stop the poaching for sport and medicine and destruction of their environment.

Body: Quotations You must include 2-3 quotations throughout your essay. Remember to: Introduce the quote in your writing using a signal phrase that is appropriate for the content and purpose of the quote Use a quote that is purposeful Include quotation marks and citation information Ex. In addition to poaching for animal parts, sports hunting also had a widespread effect on rhino populations. According to John Platt, “Widespread sports hunting in the first decades of the century quickly decimated rhino populations”.

General Formatting and Guidelines
Use a legible font (times new roman, arial, cambria, calibri, etc.) in 12 point font NO 1st person pronouns throughout your paper (I, you, they, etc). Include a properly formatted works cited page. Look at the example page given. Use a Kellogg heading INDENT PARAGRAPHS
