Evidence from land features: piecing the puzzle together, the continents fit together and mountain ranges line up Evidence from fossils: fossils match up the continents. Fossils found on the west coast of Africa are found on the east coast of South America. Evidence from climate: The climate changed as the continents moved. Tropical plant fossils have been found in the artic.

Wegener's Hypothesis rejected p.3
He could not explain how the continents drifted… He did not know about convection in the mantle, so people did not believe any of what he said. He thought the continents dragged themselves across the ocean floor.
