2 What does it mean to be shy?
Shyness is the tendency to feel awkward, worried or tense during social encounters, especially with unfamiliar people.

4 Stereotypes of Shy Students
Talk about and list stereotypes of shy students, such as: working alone quiet no friends reads a lot

5 Simulation

6 Simulation Debrief Do you feel that any of your group members were left out? Why/Why not? Did you try to include all of your group members? Why/Why not?

7 Hear from “Silent and Shy” Child
Expect students to say things along the lines of: “It was difficult not having a say.” “I felt sad because no one tried to include me.” “I wanted to talk and help, but I couldn’t.”

8 Final Discussion How will you act differently in the future?
Try to include other students who don’t talk much. Don’t dominate class discussions, give other students a chance without intimidating them. Be aware of shyness present in your peers.
