Medieval science based on Greek and Roman writers and the Bible The Scientific Revolution started a new way of thinking about the natural world based on careful observation and a willingness to question accepted beliefs. Age of Exploration showed them new ideas and beliefs

Model of the Universe Geocentric theory: solar system revolves around the earth Heliocentric Theory: solar system revolves around the sun Galileo Galilei supported Copernicus and was forced by the Catholic Church to deny it or be executed

The Scientific Method Hypothesis is tested by an experiment then the data is analyzed to come to a conclusion. Francis Bacon believed science would improve lives and led to empiricism or the experimental method. Rene Descartes came to conclusions based on mathematics and logic.

New Discoveries Isaac Newton created a single theory of motion
Zacharias Janssen created 1st microscope. Edward Jenner created small pox vaccine. Robert Boyle proposed the idea that matter was made of smaller particles joined together
