Tell pupils just how Mr Mcguire made delicious chicken burgers with special ingredients for chickens, they are going to make special burger with special ingredients for themselves

2 Making A 3-D Burger What are the variety of food you see in the burger? What kind of materials are used to create different textures? How are the ingredients placed to create a 3D effect?Are materials of the same colour or texture placed closed together? Cheese, carrot, tomatoes, lettuce, ham, etc Creative use of different material to represent ingredient.Cardboard, construction paper, rice grains, pasta, yarn, twig Balance of different colours and textures, materials not glued entirely on paper to create 3D effect Teacher to ask guiding questions for the next examples and challenge pupils to think of other materials can be used to represent the food

Ask pupils which material was most creatively used and why

5 Making A 3-D Burger A) PLAN (In pairs)
What kind of food do you want to put inside your burger? What recycled materials can you use to represent them?Be creative! Example: 3. Discuss with your partner who is doing which food and bring the materials next week if needed. Practise responsibility and teamwork! FOOD INSIDE BURGER MATERIAL TO REPRESENT Burger bread Cardboard Ham Rolled up pink paper Cheese sponge Lettuce Crepe paper Meat Patty Spaghetti Ketchup Red Yarn Pickles Tea leaves Mayonaise Rice grain Pupils to discuss and write their ideas down After discussion that pupils proceed to do the burger

6 B) Build your burger! STEP 4: Close with top of the burger using a material! STEP 3: Starting from the bottom, build your ingredients! Spacing, overlapping and popping STEP 2: Create a plate and place half of the plate on the table Teacher guides and demonstrates how to create dimension and 3D effect by not gluing everything flat STEP 1: Create a table cloth from a cloth or colour paper

Construction paper Scissors Glue White glue/ Uhu super glue (for sticking 3D materials) Recycled/scrap materials for your ingredients (eg. String, rice grains, beans, pastas, magazines, buttons, sponge etc) Pupil finish 3D burger by second week Teacher conduct gallery walk and art appreciation upon pupils’ completion
