2 main concerns to child health are:
Diabetes Asthma Mental health problems Accident and injury increase in the number of children who are overweight or obese.

4 infant mortality rates Refers to the deaths of live-born children before 12 months of age.

5 perinatal Refers to the period prior to birth (20- week gestation) until 28 days after birth.
SIDS Abbreviation for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. SIDS refers to the sudden and unexpected death of an infant less than 12 months old during their sleep from no known cause. Congenital malformations Structural or functional abnormalities that are identified at or before birth or are believed to have been present since birth that are the result of environmental or genetic factors.

10 Morbidity- Long-term conditions
It is estimated that two out of every five children in Australia (37%) have at least one long-term condition that impacts on their health. A long-term condition is defined as a condition that has lasted or is expected to last 6 months or more; however, the symptoms of a long term condition may affect the individual on a daily basis

12 Chronic conditions A chronic condition is an ongoing physical or mental impairment that reduces an individual’s capacity to perform everyday functions Chronic conditions are more persistent than long term conditions Chronic asthma, diabetes and cancer are the three most common chronic conditions in childhood.
