LAB 1: INQUIRY INTO ENZYME ACTIVITY September 12, 2013

FORMAT: PAGE 1 On the first page of your lab workbook, at the top you need your TITLE and the DATE of the lab. On the first page, include your: ABSTRACT-Includes the lab objectives (provided in manual) and the KEY Vocabulary (in manual). INTRODUCTION-Provide your background information in paragraph form (1 will suffice), the purpose of this lab in your own words, and a hypothesis. THE HYPOTHESIS should pertain to a variable that YOU could select to test next week in class. Remember the factors that affect the activity of an enzyme (OTHER THAN pH).

PAGE 1 (continued) 3. On page 1, also include your materials/supplies and procedures. * Procedures are written as steps; You can include one overall list of procedures (for procedure 1). For the procedures for procedure 2 (pH), just mention that the procedure is the same. The only variable that is altered would be the substitution of water in the enzyme test tube by varied pH buffers: pH 3, pH 5, pH 6 and pH 8. NOW turn the page and move on to the next page for the RESULTS/DATA, DISCUSSION and CONCLUSIONS, and any LAB QUESTIONS that may exist.

1. Include the results and data here. Include your labeled data table for procedure 1, labeled data table for procedure 2, and a titled/labeled graph. You should include your data from procedure 1 on the same graph as your data for procedure 2. 2. Include the discussion and conclusions here. 3. LAB QUESTIONS: Write down in your lab workbook the questions on page S 159 and answer them. They are found under the DESIGNING and CONDUCTIONG YOUR INVESTIGATION heading.
