Giving Human Characteristics to Nonhuman Things

The teapot on the stove screeched when it finally got hot.

The morning sun peeked over the horizon.

One dark and stormy night, the wind howled through my window.

My extra small jeans struggled to stay buttoned all day.

The dark shadows in the alleyway told me to turn around and run!

The tall grass in our yard danced in the breeze.

After a couple seconds of flickering, my kitchen light finally decided to turn on.

The sand at the beach crawled in between my toes and up my nose.

When I opened my dryer door, it spit out a few socks onto the floor.

Once I found the treasure map, the big red “X” on it gave away the secret hiding place.

The large rock refused to budge.

The large jack-o-lantern smiled at me from the top of the steps.
