What is Type 2 Diabetes? Also known as non-insulin dependent diabetes.
People who produce sufficient insulin, but their body cells do not respond normally to insulin. Most common form of diabetes, affecting 90% to 95% of the 26 million Americans with diabetes.

Who is at risk? Most commonly found in people over the age of 30.
It can affect children and teens Especially if they are overweight and do not get enough exercise.

How do you get Type 2 Diabetes?
It develops slowly and often goes undetected until symptoms become severe. There is not one specific cause of Diabetes type 2, there are multiple factors that are not all fully understood. Most commonly it’s due to lack of exercise and poor eating habits.

Diabetes Type 2 Symptoms?
Increased thirst and frequent urination. Increased hunger. Weight loss. Fatigue. Blurred vision. Slow-healing sores or frequent infections. Areas of darkened skin.

Ways to prevent or lower your risk for Type 2 Diabetes:
Maintain a healthy body weight. Eat nutritious meals low in sugar and saturated fats. Exercise for a least minutes a day.

Diabetes is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
If you follow the guidelines for preventing Type 2 Diabetes, you can also reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.
