(Joh 8:1-11) Jesus went unto the mount of Olives
(Joh 8:1-11) Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Chip off the old block

(1Co 15:49) And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

(Gen 1:26) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…
(Gen 5:3) And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

(Luk 19:10) For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

(1Co 15:47) The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
(1Co 15:48) As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. (1Co 15:49) And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

(Luk 6:43) For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (Luk 6:44) For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

I. The detention was past down

(Joh 8:33-36) They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

(Rom 5:12) Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

(Rom 7:18) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

(Eph 2:1-2) And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

But after we have been adopted

(Gal 4:3) Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
(Gal 4:4) But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, (Gal 4:5) To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Gal 4:6) And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. (Gal 4:7) Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

II. The deeds were past down

(Joh 8:37-40) I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

(Joh 8:31-32) Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

(2Co 5:17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

(2Co 5:17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

(Col 3:9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

But after we have been adopted

(Col 3:12-13) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

(Eph 4:24) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

III. The desires were past down

(Joh 8:44) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

(Pro 23:7) For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…
(Pro 4:23) Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

(Jas 1:14-15) But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

(Eph 2:3) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

(Eph 4:22) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

But after we have been adopted

(Col 3:10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
