The Executive Branch Succession and the Vice President
Presidential Succession- filling a vacancy in the Presidential office. The President dies, resigns, or is removed by impeachment. Vice President Speaker of the House President Pro Tempore of the Senate Sec. of State * Set by the Presidential Succession Act of 1947.

Disability Gap 25th Amendment fills in “Disability Gap”- the V.P. is to become Acting President if: 1. The President informs Congress in writing that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. 2. The V.P. and a majority of the members of his Cabinet inform Congress in writing that the President is so incapacitated.

Office of the Vice President
Duties: To preside over the Senate. Help decide the question of Presidential disability. Qualifications: Same as President. Compensation: $192,600 yr. with benefits. President has power to appoint V.P. if that office becomes vacant.
