Tanya Stahl Subject: Drama Grade: 3 & 4 Unit/Topic: Reader’s Theatre Duration: 2 lesson per week for 4 weeks (March) 1. General Learning Outcome(s) for the Unit READERS’ THEATRE General Speaking Skills 2. Specific Learning Outcomes for Unit • develop the following vocal skills: − recognize and reproduce the articulated sounds of standard speech − speak clearly − speak with ease − speak expressively − speak with energy Drama (Elementary) − speak with an appreciation of the flexibility of the voice as an instrument − learn concepts of pitch, pace, pause, rate, intensity, volume 3. Lesson Topics Lesson Concepts: Developing the following vocal skills 4. Assessment: Students will be formatively assessed on the quality of their vocal skills Clarity Expressiveness Energy Volume 5. Essential Resources: Reader’s Theater Scripts: Aesop’s Fables, A Bike Ride to Remember by Deb Hanson 6. Possible Learning Activities: Drama games that focus on development of vocal skills Reading from readers theatre scripts in pairs. 7. Learning Strategies: Direct Instruction- with student participation Small group practice 8. Addressing Learner Diversity: I will be wearing a mic so our student who is hard of hearing can hear me. There will be written instructions on the board.
