2. Prefixes
“Ante-” (Latin) meaning before, or infront of, as in “antebellum,” which means occurring or existing before a war.
“Dia-” (Greek) meaning apart or opposite, as in “diagonal,” which means a straight line joining two opposite corners.
“Epi-” (Greek) meaning upon or after, as in “epicenter,” which means the central point of something.
“Peri-” (Greek) meaning around, as in “perimeter,” which means the boundary around something.
“Pro-” (Latin) meaning before, forward, or in favor of, as in “progress,” which means forward movement toward a destination.
