4 Project Based Learning:
IF you can remember back two weeks… we looked at the first dictionary. What did you notice that was different about it? Why do you think it was this way? Today, I am going to introduce the project you will focus on for the next few weeks.

5 Slang Dictionary: You will create a dictionary that includes new words, colloquialisms (a word or phrase that is not formal or literary), slang, idioms, and IM and texting lingo. Requirements I set: Each group must include 3-4 people and each person must have a roll Each group must collect ten words Each dictionary must include the following for each word: Definition Etymology (the origin of words and the way in which their meanings have changed) Pronunciation Part of speech Connotation (feeling that a word invokes) Use in a sentence Each group member will participate equally and assess their participation. Final Dictionary will be presented to 7th graders (more on that later)

6 Dictionary: What you Decide:
Do you want to add editorial comments to your dictionary? The audience for the final project Standard Format for each entry Criteria for final rubric Deadlines for parts of project Submission of entries Rough draft of entries Proofreading date
