Characters and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
2
Characterization There are a large number of characters in the story Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Your job is to, in a group, completely analyze that character and present your analysis to the class. Groups need to be no more than 3 but no less than 2.

Characters Cheshire Cat Queen of Hearts Mad Hatter Alice White Rabbit
King of Hearts The Caterpillar The Duchess The Mouse The Cook

For each Character, you will need to do the following:
Define the character—who is it? Why is the character important? How is the character developed both physically and mentally? What are 2 adjectives you could use to describe the character? Support your choices with evidence from text. If this character had a motto, what would it be and why.

For example: The Dodo Dodo is a character Alice meets early on in her adventures in Wonderland. Dodo uses big words that the other characters don’t seem to understand well and the other characters suspect that Dodo doesn’t know what they mean either. He comes up with a way to get Alice and the others dry after their swim in the Pool of Tears.

The Dodo Four adjectives to describe Dodo
Energetic: he suggests a Caucus-race to help dry the characters off “I move the meeting adjourn, for the immediate adoption of more energetic remedies-” (Carroll 11) He doesn’t think things through: After Dodo calls the race finished, he is uncertain as to what to do about figuring out a winner “This question the Dodo could not answer without a great deal of thought, and it sat for a long time with one finger pressed upon its forehead. . .” (11). The Dodo’s motto would be Just Do It because he likes to be active and he doesn’t think about the outcome of his ideas before he suggests doing them.
