Students will become business people, responsible for locating a business, creating a structure, a product, a marketing plan, advertising, problem solving, balancing books, and maximizing public perception, profitability, and winning ball games…
My students will have to become owners of the next Major League Baseball team…. Details in December….

5. New things this year
We will be learning as we walk with The Walking Classroom. Together we will dive into 100 Common Core aligned lessons while we walk around campus. My goal for the year is to walk 100 miles.
We will also be reading some novels, and getting away from the out of date language arts curriculum the district is working on replacing and engaging in more meaningful learning experiences.

6. Science is awesome!
As part of Tracy Unified’s Science Committee, I am one of the teachers starting to teach the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
I will be phasing out the old, stale science material and getting my class to participate in more interactive, hands on activities.
We will learn about gravity, how plants obtain food and energy, learn some basic computer coding, begin to work on our engineering skills, and if we are lucky enough to raise the money, I want to be the first Tracy school to buy Lego WeDo robotics kits to allow me to teach engineering, technology, coding, robotics, and ways to approach these things.
