5 Concrete or Abstract Concrete: a physical noun. You can experience it with one or more of your five senses Ex: desks, cafeteria, candy bars Abstract: an idea or quality that cannot be identified by the senses Ex: happiness, speed, freedom

6 Find the concrete nouns in the following sentences.
I found the dog in the park next to school. Katie showed Billy the picture of his new computer.

7 Find the abstract nouns in the following sentences
The teacher had trust in her students. There was a lot of excitement the week before the Christmas holidays. The trumpet player had great talent.

8 Singular, Plural, or Possessive
Nouns have different forms. Singular: one noun Ex: pencil, mess, Mike Plural: more than one Ex: pencils, messes, Mikes Possessive: shows possession or ownership. Ex: Mike’s, pencil’s, mess’s *possession is shown with an apostrophe

9 Collective Nouns… Collective means a group. Collective nouns are “groups of something.” herd fleet colony tribe pack family team flock group army mob class audience

10 Common and Proper Common Noun: a general person, place, or thing.
Use a lowercase letter unless the common noun is the first word of the sentence Ex: doctor, store, book Proper Noun: a specific person, place, thing, or brand name. Use capital letters in each major word of the noun Ex: Doctor Phil, Target, Hunger Games
