4. Skeletal System Each bone is an organ There are 206 bones in your body
Bones work together to perform many functions
Protect vital organs such as your brain, heart, and lungs
Provide your body with support
Bone marrow is where blood cells are made
Store calcium for when blood gets low

5. Muscle System Muscles are organs that work together to move your body
There are about 640 muscles that you can control
When you run, your brain tells many muscles how to work together
Muscle cells work in bundles for strength
There are many more muscles you don’t have to think about
Your body will shiver on its own to try keeping you warm
Heart beat

6. Organ Systems Working Together
Muscle + skeletal systems work together to move your body
Many muscles work in pairs
Biceps are used to bend your arm, while triceps are used to straighten
Muscles ALWAYS pull on bones and NEVER push

7. Other Systems Work Together
Nervous system + muscle system + skeletal system move your body
Brain sends signals, muscles move bones, bone support body
Circulatory system + muscle system move blood through body
Heart is part of both systems
Respiratory system + circulatory system move oxygen through your body
Lungs bring in oxygen, blood takes oxygen to body parts and removes carbon dioxide that lungs push out when you exhale
Digestive system + muscle system move food through your body
