1 Going Local: Teachers and Students Getting “Hands On” With History
The Clarion University Council for the Social Studies (CUCSS), with the aid of the Clarion University Community Fellows Grant, has forged a professional, symbiotic relationship with the Clarion County Historical Society. CUCSS has been working to organize a series of lesson plans, in combination with catalogued artifacts and primary sources, that give an account of the history of Clarion County and some of her more notable characters. CUCSS has been crafting these lessons in a way that allows local educators to implement our materials alongside current curriculum – relating to standard classroom material while exposing students to primary sources and historical methods that hopefully pique students’ interest in historical studies.
